Karolien
Soete was born in Flanders in 1973 as the scion of an artistic
family: granddaughter of the esteemed Flemish artist, Jozeph Roels of Kasterlee
and daughter of conductor/musician, Frans Soete.
Karolien is thus blessed with a great repertoire of classical talents and
skills. She holds a masters degree from the St. Luke Academy of Art, specializing
in historical graphic techniques. She has studied stone and clay work, photography,
architecture, voice, and is fluent in computer design and animation. Professionally
she has been art director for motion pictures, sung opera in film, and vocalized
Brahms in concert. Her favorite medium however remains the drawing and painting
of authentic portraits. It allows Karolien to explore the tender, insightful
world of drawing and painting portraits. As a portraitist, Karolien's reputation
continues to grow in Europe and the U.S.A.
Her expertise, coupled with the gift to identify with every portrayed, gives
her the possibility to create miraculous portraits that resemble the actual
person not only physically but also in character.
"There’s no greater thrill for me than to discover
someone enjoying art. That’s why I do it -- to bring joy to others and to
myself".
"These custom works can preserve memories of
loved ones for generations. I am inspired to bring the memory of that person
into the present, and help establish a loving relationship between the contemporary
man and his roots. Portraiture is my inheritance, my gift, through which
I strive to capture the deeper personality of the subject, and perhaps even
a glimpse of the soul. In this digital era, with its fast pace and disposable
items,
I want to create not just a dispassionate record of people and places, but
a lasting visual bridge between generations.
A bridge of love, identity, pride. Therefore, I am currently available for
private portraiture work, which will allow me to further this classic art
form". |
